Someof the main stumbling blocks with any eco-concerns in Mauritius are; the average Mauritian’s lack of education in this respect, the lack of understanding how everything is inter-linked and mainly, an apathy. How many times does one see rubbish strewn around empty trash cans in public places? Fishermen take miniscule fish without any consideration for the consequences. There seems to be an “I’m alright Jack” attitude that has gotten worse and worse as Mauritius has “developed”
Until Social Awareness and Responsibility becomes more important a subject in schools, nothing is going to change.
